Board Member Job Description
Functions
- To represent the best public interest of the St. Anthony Park community
- To be responsible for the business and corporate affairs of the Community Council
- To be the final authority for all contracts, budgets, and proposals
- To be the final authority for developing policies, goals and objectives and guiding the implementation of the Council's programs and services
Responsibilities
- To attend all Board meetings. A member can be removed from the board if he/she has three absences. Board members are expected to be fully prepared regarding meeting agenda items. Delegates are responsible for altering an alternate if they are not able to attend a meeting.
- To express options, offer information, and ask questions during board meetings and to maintain and update board notebooks.
- To serve on at least one committee of the Board.
- To assist in recruiting participation from their neighborhood for SAPCC committees and special projects.
- To keep informed on issues of concerns to the organization and to share information on neighborhood issues and projects at Board meetings.
- To support fund raising efforts and seek ways to maintain and enhance the financial base of the organization.
- To represent the needs of the constituency to the organization and to communicate decisions and policies of the organization to the community.
- To act ethically at all times with the best interest of the community as the primary focus.
Time Commitment Approximately 4-8 hours/month (2 to 3 meetings). Occasional help with projects, events, testimony or liaison with other neighborhood groups
