The SAP Garden Club is an organization of gardeners mostly from the lovely, historic neighborhood of St. Anthony Park in St. Paul. The Club raises funds with these tours for educational programs related to gardening and the environment, maintaining gardens at the local library and the Minnesota State Horticultural Society Garden at the State Fair Grounds, tree planting, invasive species removal, and scholarships for horticultural students at the University of Minnesota.
This neighborhood is full of beautiful gardens. The gardeners are very creative in the use of their sometimes challenging lots. With each tour the Club tries to have variety in the gardens selected in order to showcase this creativity. Participants will notice that, while we have selected only 12 gardens for the tour, there are many interesting gardens throughout the neighborhood. We keep the number small so that it is possible to see them all in one day. This year, there will be gardens that feature rock gardens, rain gardens, native plantings, both shade and sun gardens, gardens on steep slopes, both formal and informal gardens.
