Tonight at 10 p.m. marks the beginning of the I-94 closures in Minneapolis and St. Paul this weekend (see map). They'll last through 5 a.m. Monday. Here's an overview:
Full closure in Minneapolis for LaSalle Ave. Bridge project:
A project to rehabilitate the LaSalle Ave. Bridge spanning I-94 began early this week. In order to remove the bridge deck this weekend, we'll be completely closing I-94 between I-394 and I-35W. Detours will direct you via I-394, Hwy 100, I-494 and I-35W. For additional information about this project, please visit http://www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/i94bridges/index.html
Eastbound closure in St. Paul for the resurfacing project:
Chances are if you've driven through St. Paul in the last few months, you've become familiar with the resurfacing project on I-94. We've been working on resurfacing the shoulders and now need to start on the driving lanes. These will require two weekend closures for each direction of I-94 between Hwy 280 and I-35E. The first closure this weekend will be eastbound. Detours will direct you to use Hwy 280, Hwy 36 and I-35E.
