Community Mural Project, Indigenous Makers Pop-Up & “Indigenous Women on Walls” Walking Mural Tour

Get hands-on with live painting with the creators behind the Lakhota cultural brand OWNS THE BATTLE. Shop a pop-up Indigenous Makers market, take a walking mural tour, and enjoy a free community meal at the Baker Court Office Building on Friday, September 20th from 5-8 p.m.

  • Watch a live painting demo and try hands-on painting with Owns The Battle co-creator and Chroma Zone alum, Thomasina Top Bear

  • Learn about the new 2024 Chroma Zone mural featuring a Lakhota (or Oceti Sakowin) beadwork pattern

  • Shop the Indigenous Makers Market for handmade goods by:

    • The Native Youth Arts Collective, Florence De Miel, Edible Art by Simone Rendon, Awohali Designs, James Harvin, Ashlee Jallen, and more.

  • Join a free “Native Women on Walls” walking mural tour departing at 5:30. (The 30-minute tour will cover 4-5 city blocks using city sidewalks.)

  • Enjoy a free community meal catered by Blue Hummingbird Woman at 6:00 p.m. while supplies last.

  • Stay for remarks by Owns The Battle co-creators Thomasina Top Bear and Lisa DeCoury at 6:30 p.m.

    This mural and free public event is made possible with funding from the Metropolitan Council. The community meal is hosted by the Saint Anthony Park Community Council’s Equity Committee with funding from the SAP Community Foundation. This is an outdoor event and will be held rain or shine.

    The Baker Court building is located at 821 Raymond Ave, Saint Paul. Free event parking will be available in the Baker Court parking lot during event hours, and accessible from the Raymond Ave entrance only.
