Why Give to SAPCC?

The St. Anthony Park Community Council (District 12) is where neighbors in North and South St. Anthony Park come together to shape the place we share. We host the events that bring people out, care for our parks and ponds, and make sure neighbors have a real say on transit, development, and City decisions.

Much of this work is done by volunteers on our Equity, Environment, Land Use, and Transportation committees, with a small staff keeping it all connected. Your gift helps us keep doing all of it.

Why Your Gift Matters: How We’re Funded

It takes about $30,000 in programming funds every year to do everything you see on this page, from community meals and park cleanups to public meetings and free online courses. We rely on grants and gifts from neighbors like you to make that happen.

Many of the grants we receive are for specific projects, so they can’t be used for anything else. We also need general operating support: the staff who keep committees and volunteers connected, plus everyday basics like our office rent, internet, and accounting. Our City allocation doesn’t fully cover staff and basic operating costs, so unrestricted gifts fill that gap and keep the lights on.

Your gifts this year also help us rebuild our reserves toward a goal of about $10,000, so the council stays strong and ready for whatever comes next.

A gift of any size, given any time of year, goes right to work for St. Anthony Park. Thank you for being part of it.

2026 So Far, by the Numbers

~300

neighbors at the Hampden Park Ice Cream Social

75+

neighbors, in person and online, at our September 29 METRO H Line meeting

100+

bags of litter and debris removed in two spring cleanups, not counting loose items

$214,000

for Westgate Commons shade and solar lighting, included in the Mayor’s proposed budget as a tentative 2028 allocation

Figures cover January–October 15, 2026, from SAPCC’s 2026 Community Engagement & Progress Report. Attendance figures are approximate and reflect individual events, not unique participants. The Westgate amount is proposed City funding, not a final appropriation.

All We Do

Your gift supports everything below. Here’s a look at January–October 15, 2026, from our 2026 Community Engagement & Progress Report.

Bringing Neighbors Together

Equity Committee

  • Winter Community Meal at Seal Hi-Rise (49 registered, plus walk-ins)
  • National Night Out, Yoga in the Park, the Fourth in the Park parade, and Movies in the Park
  • Nearly 300 neighbors at the Ice Cream Social
  • Helped secure a City Council proclamation for Seal Hi-Rise’s 50th anniversary

Caring for Parks, Ponds & Gardens

Environment Committee

  • About 80 bags removed at Kasota Ponds and 20 more at the South SAP Earth Day cleanup
  • Buckthorn removal at Kasota Ponds and along Robbins Street, funded by a $5,000 MWMO grant
  • 12 new trees at Westgate Commons Park and season-long rain-garden care on Raymond Avenue
  • Community Garden: three plots growing produce for Seal Hi-Rise residents, new accessible raised beds, orchard expansion, and a prairie prescribed burn

Safer Streets & Better Transit

Transportation Committee

  • Two METRO H Line meetings (about 50 people in spring, 75+ in September) and formal comments to Metro Transit on stations and Route 66 service
  • Walk audits with AARP Minnesota and along Vandalia to document sidewalk and lighting gaps
  • Neighbor concerns relayed to MnDOT, the City, and Ramsey County during the Highway 280 closure
  • Support for a federal funding application for the Wabash–Raymond separated bikeway

A Voice in What Gets Built

Land Use Committee

  • Luther Seminary Task Force: Lower Campus report supported unanimously by the Board, and renewed focus on both campuses as Luther plans to sell its Upper Campus
  • 11 recommendations to the City on the new HealthPartners Como Clinic
  • Advocated on the 2516 Wabash digital billboard proposal

Free Learning & Resources

Education & Resilience

  • Launched our free, eight-module Home Energy Course
  • A free online Tenant Rights course, now in pilot
  • SAP-CAN, a neighborhood resource network in development with the SAP Community Foundation, local churches, and other partners

Keeping Neighbors Informed

Board, Staff & Communications

  • 10 regular Board meetings through October 15, plus public meetings of four standing committees

  • The Community Garage Sale, with about 15 households hosting sales
  • Welcomed Associate Director Robert “Bobby” McPherson in May

Where Your Gift Goes

City funding and grants cover a lot, but not everything, and many grants can only be used for one specific project. Neighbor donations help fill the gaps and keep the everyday work going:

  • Free community events, from the Seal Hi-Rise Community Meal to the Ice Cream Social
  • Volunteer workdays at Kasota Ponds, Westgate Commons, rain gardens, and the Community Garden
  • Public meetings where neighbors weigh in on transit, streets, and development
  • Free online learning like the Home Energy and Tenant Rights courses, and SAP-CAN resource planning
  • Email updates, Park Bugle stories, and the website that keep everyone in the loop
