Over the past nine months, two community rain gardens along Raymond Avenue have undergone a complete transformation, thanks to the efforts of nearly two dozen dedicated volunteers. Neighbors, Ramsey County Master Gardeners, and Minnesota Water Stewards all came together to weed, solarize, mulch, and plant more than 300 native plants. Special thanks go to the Capitol Region Watershed District, whose generous grant made it possible to hire Earth Wizards, a local eco-restoration company, to assist with the clean-up and provide essential resources like mulch and plants.
We also want to give a heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers and champions who helped make this project a success, including those who donated their time, energy, and passion for improving our shared green spaces. Your work will benefit the neighborhood for years to come.
As the season comes to a close, there will be one last rain garden maintenance day on Thursday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to noon. This is a great opportunity to lend a hand and help put the gardens to rest for the year. Everyone is welcome! For more details, visit sapcc.org/.
