On October 29, the St. Anthony Park Community Council (SAPCC) hosted a Renter Forum at The Legends at Berry, an affordable senior apartment community that’s home to long-time neighbors – and many of our new immigrant neighbors and elders as well.
The evening brought together residents from across Westgate to learn about SAPCC’s work, meet Council members, and explore ways to get involved. Attendees shared feedback on this summer’s Westgate Commons Park Summer Activation Program – a series of pop-up play days and community events that brought families together in the park – and offered ideas for future programming.
Guests enjoyed delicious food from Afro Deli, adding a festive touch that matched the energy in the room.
SAPCC Equity Committee Co-Chair Melissa Pappas reflected, “It’s wonderful to make these connections – to bring neighbors together, hear their ideas, and show that everyone in our community has a place and a voice. These conversations are what make our neighborhood stronger.”
All participants were also invited to SAPCC’s Annual Meeting the following week to continue the conversation and learn more about upcoming projects and volunteer opportunities.
SAPCC extends a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at The Legends for providing space and for their ongoing support of outreach and programming efforts in Westgate. Their partnership and hospitality helped make this gathering possible – and deeply meaningful.
