This week the St. Paul City Council approved an amendment to the ADU ordinance that allows them to be built in all residential districts in the city, including St. Anthony Park. The amendment will take effect in 30 days.  Under the amended ordinance, ADUs will be allowed if they meet the standards of the zoning code. The Department of Safety and Inspections has a page with the requirements:  https://www.stpaul.gov/departments/safety-inspections/accessory-dwelling-units. The amendment changed one of those requirements: the 5,000 square feet minimum lot size now only applies to detached ADUs.
