The Buy Nothing Day event held at Hampden Park on Saturday, May 10, was a tremendous success, with over 150 neighbors participating in the free exchange of goods and community meal. Nearly two-thirds of the items available were taken and repurposed, reflecting our community’s commitment to sustainability and sharing.
The event featured a variety of items, including clothing, toys, home goods, and non-perishable food, all donated by local residents. A free community meal was also served, providing an opportunity for neighbors to connect and enjoy a meal together.
“It was heartwarming to see the Faith Communities come together to sponsor and gather these materials, ensuring they were distributed to those who could use them,” said Julie Drechsler, Executive Director of the St. Anthony Park Community Foundation. “This event truly showcased the spirit of our neighborhood.”
Special thanks to all of the SAP Faith Communities, Lanna Thai, Mim’s Cafe, Hampden Park Co-op, and all the neighbors who contributed food and items, making this event a true community effort.
